BOX TOPS
Please remember to cut those Box Tops!
This means more money for the Media Center and it's wonderful programs. We run contests all year long so keep cutting. Click on the Box Tops graphic to the left and you will be redirected to the site.
Remember to check the expiration dates!

American Girl Books Needed
Mrs. Slack would like to increase the library’s collection of American Girl books from the “Be Forever” series (originally known as "The American Girls Collection" or "Historical Characters"). These are wonderful stories set within specific time periods in American history that really bring home what life was like at the time, giving our Apollo young ladies a better understanding of American history.
The library’s current inventory of these books doesn’t meet the demand of our population, especially during the annual American Girl reading challenge. Many of this series of books are very difficult to find in bookstores or even online, so we are asking for donations of any gently used books your girls may not be reading anymore. We are looking for books from the following list of characters, and their best friends who have books as well:

Can You Hear Me Now?
Mrs. Slack, Apollo's awesome Media Specialist, wants to make sure our students have the materials they need to succeed, but she needs our help to make that happen.
Using DonorsChoose.org, she has created a classroom project request, "Can You Hear Me Now?", that makes it easy for anyone to give any amount to the project that inspires them!

Media Center Volunteer Opportunities
BOX TOPS - We need a few parents to help count & sort box tops that families send in. This is something that can be done at home. Box tops earn money for our media center.
SHELVING BOOKS - We would love 1 or 2 parents to come in once a week for an hour or two to help put our books away.
READING TO STUDENTS - We are always looking for parents to come in and read to students in the primary grades.
BUSY BEE - 2 volunteers are needed to be "Busy Bees" for kindergarten and 1st grade. This is a great program that helps our children learn to read!
BOOK FAIRS - We have 3 book fairs every school year. We need parents to work shifts during the book fair to help kids find books and also work the registers. Book fairs are a blast!

Please keep in mind that the Media Center funds so many quality and costly programs that are beneficial to all the students and teachers at Apollo Elementary.
Funds are constantly needed to keep up with the restrictions of constant budget cuts and higher demands.
So dig deep and give often!
Monetary donations are always acceptable and are sure to earn you a grateful smile from Mrs. Slack.
A well funded and supported library can
open the world for our children!
