Parent Leadership Team
The Brevard Public School Parent Leadership Team (PLT) offers parent leaders throughout our county a unique opportunity to join together to participate in regular meetings covering a wide variety of educational issues. District personnel share the latest information, and parent leaders ask questions, share thoughts and/or concerns and provide feedback. Parents then take what they have learned back to their schools and share with parents and staff members through SAC and PTO meetings, newsletters and the PLT notebook. These meetings serve as a valuable tool for maintaining regular two-way communication between schools, parents and the district.

School Improvement Plan
Our School Improvement
Plan, has been submitted for approval. Because
the School Improvement Plan is a “living” document, we are continuing to look
for ways to improve our practice and ensure our student’s success. We are continuing to use differentiation to
meet the engagement needs of our students through all subjects to reach the
intent and rigor of the new Florida Standards.
It is important to us that we work together—children, parents, teachers, and administrators—as a team to secure the success of our wonderful students.
We look forward to hearing observations or suggestions that will assist our team in this endeavor.

Be Smart, Be Safe Online
The Internet is a great source of information and entertainment for children. Students may research for schoolwork, play games and socialize with friends. Unfortunately, child predators know that the Internet is popular with youngsters. Parents, please talk to your child about Internet safety. Make sure they know to never share their password, home address, school name or other personal information, even with somebody who claims to be their online friend. The FBI recommends to only allow Internet access in a shared space in your home. There are simple rules that will help keep children safe.
∗ Never reveal personal information: their name, address, phone number, pet’s name, or school information.
∗ Children should not post their photo on the Internet.
∗ Kids should know they can report any online problems to their parents or another trusted adult.
∗ Facebook's official policy is no kids under the age of 13 may create an account.
∗ Children need to know whatever they are told on-line may not be true.
∗ Never respond to messages or bulletin board postings that are suggestive, obscene, belligerent, or harassing.

Education-Themed Channel
The Florida Department of Education launched an education-centered YouTube channel that provides informative video content to a variety of education stakeholders throughout the state. The EducationFL Channel features a growing library of videos that will help teachers, parents, students and others enhance their connection to, and understanding of, Florida education. This new video channel also helps to enhance the Department’s expanding social media presence and provides new ways of collecting your input. The newly created channel features a variety of content intended for a wide range of audiences. Some notable videos include helpful updates related to ongoing changes to many aspects of the state’s education system, useful tips teachers can use in their classrooms, ways parents can get involved in their child’s education, literacy public service announcements, event celebrations and a self-written rap video about reading performed by at-risk youth. The Department has also created social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and blogs for specific audiences.
